The
Parliamentary Ombudsman
Along with the Chancellor of Justice, the Parliamentary Ombudsman is the supreme guardian
of the law in Finland. As provided in the Act on the Division of Duties between the
Chancellor of Justice and the Parliamentary Ombudsman, matters concerning the Defense
Forces and prisons or other institutions where people are committed against their will,
plus complaints from persons committed to such institutions, are referred from the Office
of the Chancellor of Justice to the Parliamentary Ombudsman.
The European Ombudsman
Investigates complaints concerning the actions of the authorities and institutions of the
European Union.
The Prosecutor-General
Head of the prosecuting authorities and supreme public prosecutor. Supervision of the
prosecuting authorities is primarily the responsibility of the Office of the
Prosecutor-General headed by the Prosecutor-General. |
